Postin'?

I am always amazed at what kids can come up with as their language. After working with high school students for three years, I can usually stay on top of the current 'lingo' for todays teens, but this seems to be a fleeting talent. Yesterday as I pop into work to check on a few things, a student greets me outside my office. He informs me that he has been "postin'" in my office. As I look on my desk for a post-it note, I realize something is not right. I look at him and ask "you were doing what in my office?" With a straight face, he replies, "Postin'". "Posting?" I ask.
"Posting? haha, No Mrs. Howard, it's Postin'." Then the light goes on. "You were hanging out in my office?" "Yes, I was postin'." "Postin' is the new hanging out?"
"Yes." "Where have I been?" He non-chalauntly says "well, Mrs. Howard, you have been gone for like half the school year." In all actuality, it was only three months and part of that was Christmas break, so how could I have missed this new word? I laughed pretty hard that afternoon about this misunderstanding. My student just laughed and shook his head as though "Postin'" has been a part of the English language for decades.

Mom's Blog

I am very excited to announce that my Mom, Carol Brandt, has decided to join the world of blogging!! I don't believe she has posted anything yet, but I am eager refer you all to her site! Mom will be providing ladies with Biblical truths for thinking critically through the scriptures and applying it to their lives, both through individual and group Bible study. "Love" was the word for the day. We spent Valentine's Day at the Delray Beach Tennis Tournament with our friends, the Averette's.

Family Reunion

We spent the weekend celebrating Mom's birthday/retirement ;) and Cari's baby shower. We can't wait for baby boy #2 to arrive in March! It was good to see the growing family...

2 months

Brandt is now over two months old and had his well check up along with his horrific shots. He is almost 13 pounds and 24" long... can you believe he grew 4 inches and 4 pounds in two months? This is one long and lean kid. The Dr said he was in the 90th percentile for height and 75th for weight. He's a keeper ;)

My friend Jennifer took these photos of us when Brandt was 4 weeks old. We were trying to capture his infancy via photos, but he was just so big... good thing we took them when we did, he's really growing fast.

Brandt is now a giggler and laughs all the time... he's quite the determined kiddo and very opinionated! The Cook family is becoming more and more prominate and we can't wait to see how his personality develops. For now, here is a photo of his laughter...
